I just rebuilt my steering box on the 34 and noticed the mounting holes in the frame are elongated. Just wondering if this is factory of done by someone before me. Hopefully someone else with a 33-34 has seen this before. Thanks Steve

My 34 has a hole for the pitman arm with 3 elongated holes around it in each rail for both left and right hand drive and it was 100% original when I got it

Elongated probably so the same punch could be used on passenger as well as pickup frames. The rest of the holes are different on the rails though, so I don't know if this is anything more than a theory.

It is factory. Elongated holes were very helpful on mine to drop the column after I channeled the body.

I had a feeling Henry Ford built the early cars for us to cut up. The parts swap too perfect to be coincidence......

Thanks for the help. Looked original to me so I bolted it back together without welding up the holes and after reading your responses. Maybe a cruise tomorrow to check it out. Steve
