Hey guys....with TROG WEST coming up soon who is driving up the coast for the event?

Just checking to see if there are any caravans leaving early that Saturday morning.

The plan for now is to leave Long Beach around 5am to beat the traffic but would be fun to hook up with some Hambers to make the trip a little more fun

We decided to make a vacation out of it even though we don't have any of the fun cars running. Had the room reserved since the first day the event was announced on the HAMB and am hitting a couple of the scenic spots the wife has always wanted to see but we never managed to get there.

You'll be missed HRP! But the east coast race should be a lot closer to you.

lucky for those of you in South part of State with good weather - San Francisco North has rain coming Friday to Sunday making traveling in a open car, open motor a little tough.

Loading up the wagon and heading North Friday morning.
Found a vineyard that has a vintage trailer for use as a guest house about 15 minutes from Grover's Beach!

Weather forecast for the area is showing 40% chance of rain on Friday, 60% on Sat and 20% on Sunday. However that has changed a lot over the past 48 hours, so we'll see how it goes. We might be taking the daily driver up instead of the hot rod. No hood, no fenders, no side glass. It's one thing to get caught in the rain and do what you have to do, it's another to drive into it. Luckily, I have until Friday to decide which to take.

When it says 60% chance of rain, i read it as 40% chance of no rain.

Sitting in Redding now headed south in a few minutes with plans to be somewhere south of the bay area tonight. In a non descript rental car with a great sound system. Tourist day today.

  19. so what are people bring in the way of seating amenities or beach type stuff?
    so obviously an umbrella right???

I know there is a 4' fence that separates the racers from the spectators?

Also, any hints from anyone that has been to the original TROG as a spectator please do tell.

It sounds like if you do bring a pre '65 vehicle there will be special parking, I read that someplace.
It makes me feel like driving my wagon.
But the other option is to bring vintage bikes, ride down from the hotel. However we don't know if they will let us bring them in and lock them up inside??
    A lot to question.

the main NO from the site- is no outside food or drink, or coolers.
Other than that.. I have been slowly finding other notes.

Like pit pass info is sparce..

Maybe we can make it next year, Danny.:) I have actually been to Pismo Beach, its quite the incredible place. Me and the wife flew out there for our 30th Anniversary, in January, and it was about 68F. The motel didnt have heat, or air. I have a buddy that I was in the Navy with, him and his wife live just south in Nipomo, and we can probably crash at his place if we cant find a room.:D

  24. Getting on the plane tomorrow night, 13 hours flying, then driving up from Huntington Beach first thing Saturday morning. Can't wait!

    Bear:)

racing in the rain on sand in a vintage car with skinny tires while 12' waves are crashing on shore 3 feet away from you.

sounds like a good time to me.

If they do get 12' waves and at hi-tide the racing track could get pretty narrow ?

A cool one break I guess
