Tom and Jeff, thanks for comments. I have drawn alot of inspiration from the car cultures of New Zealand, and Australia. The Hudson is such a rare car I need to get info from every source available as well.

 

Some more color to the project, hope to get car primed and jams painted before it gets too cold.

just found this great thread. My grandpops had one like this when I was a little kid this brings back memories of playing in the huge (to us small kids) back seat. Great what a lot of hard work and some "learning" can come up with. From another old mechanic LOL.

 

Much admiration for your Ambition and Skills, Hudson's are way KOOL ! A project of this magnitude is beyond anything I / most of us, would attempt, IMO, will follow this thread. Thank You for posting, gives me some ambition for my small projects that I do, putting your project at level 10, I'm around 1 or 2.

Sorry to disappoint you, I posted earlier that I have been working on this car for about 3 years, I have over 1500 man hours so far, I planned for a budget of $2500.00 and 2500.00 hours. I might accidentally make it and be driving this project in 5 years. It has taken me 2 months (already)to post to this point, living in the country I have poor satellite internet connection, dependent on good weather.

 

I'm still impressed.

 

,Thanks, This car looks much better in pictures than it actually is, I have a cheap company phone, but its free. This project is a learning process for me to see what it takes to save a car like this. I plan on getting some real tools and equipment and doing a more modern restoration on the next one.

Well done. Your dedication is inspiring, and so is the budget you've been able to stick to.

That pieced together door and quarter reminds me of what I did to put my dad's '56 together. The donor car was nicer to start with but it turned out good and I'm sure yours will as well.

WOW! That Chevy came out nice, fantastic job on it, I saw a video or thread on it while researching 4 door - 2 door conversions. Love that color.

 

I have done all the jams with one quart, probably take a gallon to do the rest of the car.

 

Didnt realize you were brushin it on, but hey that will work if it suits you, You gonna spray the main top coat?
Ive brushed a couple old trucks implement orange years ago that didnt look bad considering.

 

For a mix n match,it sure is looking real good.Please keep the updates coming.

If you've done all that, you certainly can spray paint the car. The painting is the easiest part, it's the prep work that's the hard part.

 

I will be brushing the top coat on also, I want to get it running, and then come back and revisit the paint and bodywork. This enamel will oxidize and dull real quickly so I will need to do it again.

You called that right, I have been by passing a lot of the prep work for now, I will be building a bigger shop more suited painting soon. I worked for a few years doing paint and body work on sleepers for semi trucks and I have the necessary equipment.

 

Got the roof and trunk lid mostly done , but before I do final welding on them I need to do the perimeter frame repair.
