I built a single axle race car trailer from a wrecked travel trailer
    in the late 60s.
Cut out 4 feet of twisted frame and widened the axle with
3 inch pipe. welded on some expanded metal and was good to go.
Wheels were a wide 4 lug pattern.

I built this trailer in the early 1970's out of scrap metal at a cost of $35. This picture is from last Saturday dragging home some tin from a local auction. I frequently have people wanting to buy it or take pictures of it so they can build one like it. It's simple and you can't feel it behind you, even loaded with a car and going 80 miles per hour. trailer.JPG
