I need some help in identifying a rear end. The guy who has it was told it's a Ford 9" with 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern. It is about 54.5" wide from mounting surface to mounting surface. There is no ID tag or anything like that. If it's a 9" it would have had to have been narrowed I would think. The center housing just doesn't look like a 9" to me. I searched around the interwebs but am not having much luck. I'm hoping to find something narrower to put in my Shoebox and the 8" I have isn't quite as narrow as I'd like. Anyways if anyone can I.D. this thing I'd really appreciate it!
    Thanks, IMG_1920.JPG IMG_1921.jpg

I think you're right... I'm not able to look at mine right now but it does look somewhat familiar. My stock '51 rear end is ~57 1/4" when I've measured it so I'm thinking either it's been narrowed or more likely this guys just measured wrong.

Shoebox should have a "mechanics" typeU-joint flange.

Mopars and others used that circular flange, but mopars had axle nuts always? Old lever shock means 30s-or so?

This is a 49 dodge rearend, 4x4.5 bolt pattern, wish I had a better photo but all I have.
The ribs on the hogs head looks similar, yours may be older then 49 though. uncle 007.jpg

Sorry.. .meant 5 x 4.5" as in Ford pattern... In any case it's not even close to what the guy thought or was told. Thanks for your help guys.
