Somewhere in my cloudy memory I have a picture of a Ford round racer with a dropped axle ... it's dropped only on the driver's side. Am I imagining this, or did it really happen ?
Really would not surprise me, there was a lot of "innovation" back in those days. Some worked, some didn't. It was a marvelous time of experimentation when guys were willing to try new things to see if it would give them an advantage over the competition. If something worked, someone was adapting their twist on the new thing the next week. The worst thing that could have happened was the idea failed and the car got crashed. It was a great time in racing. Gene
