Seems to be the case. Before too long someone will be trying to bring pastels back. No thanks. Someone needs to tell the emperor he has no clothes. If Mr Pratt wants to blend in with the crowd I think he's accomplished that.
Does anybody know what wheel covers Lee's running? They're familiar looking but what exactly they are escapes me...
If Lee did something that didn't fit my taste, I'd consider changing my taste. Not that this is anything like that. This is right up my alley. Nice to see, last time I was there it was under the carport feeling left-out. Looks great!
Very nice - with a quieter colour you notice the subtleties in the body a bit more. Probably not allowed to say this on here but that VW Porsche looks like a fun set of wheels as well...
I've always loved his work, but liked the car better in it's first form. Did he change out the copper interior? If not, I struggle a bit with the combination of cream, green and copper. He has to repaint the house now A feature by Ryan of the original version; http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=23119
Man Lee and his cars are the coolest. I'll have to admit this is a pretty shocking change to me. The copper and lime version is one of my favorite mild custom shoeboxes. Gotta see it in person. Great to see it driving around again for sure! Man I really miss the copper though. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It's a great looking car. That lime has always bugged me but it works well with the cream and I agree that the more subtle colour emphasizes the body modifications. Still a killer car and I'd drive it either way.
Honestly it has me reconsidering my current color scheme.... been this way since ~1985. I used to think I needed some wild paint but starting to appreciate the more period correct colors.
I like the color combo. But thought if there was a subtle stripe outside that enclosed area (?). Just me, don't go hatin'.
The pin stripe is a nice touch. I like both the copper and cream versions, probably lean more toward the cream. But the lime accent panel just doesn't do it for me with either color. Looks like the painter or owner was trying too hard to be different. I don't think it adds to the car as a whole. That's just my opinion, and you know what that's worth. Mike.
Anyone know where I can find some specs on Lee's ride (i.e. rear end, what's the Allstate box under the dash, suspension, etc.)? I tried searching but didn't have much luck.
Sorry, but that lime colour is breaking up that nice body. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It's just a well styled car, so it's going to look great no what color is on it. But I can't say the new color is an improvement, or even a lateral change. It's definitely a retro-grade.
I don't know Lee personally so this is only a guess but my guess would be that it was a bit of a homage to the Barris built Larry Ernst Chevy which is why I kind of scratch my head when I see guys saying that the new colour is more period correct as I remember a number of copper coloured customs from that time but can only think of 1 beige coloured custom and that car didn't stay beige for long. The beige might be a more correct factory colour from that time frame but customizing was all about not looking factory.
