  6. Nice mounting on that steering box, is that the stock F1 mount? I guess that could be turned over and used to mount on top of the frame.

That is a steering box bracket it took off an early 50s vw bus. Then had the box machined to fit. Yes i could be placed on top as well....a really neat mount.

Great save on that body. Don't know if I would have tried to save one that bad but you sure did a nice job. Congratulations on your first ride.

I added a cool shift knob a friend sculpted and cast for me a few years ago. And added a matching passenger seat....I gotta get buisy Making cushions and covers. I also built a wooden rumble seat rises to ad padding to and a added a seatbelt to the passenger side...so both girls got a turn going for a spin.

Installed and wired and plumbed all the guages tonight.... also got a matching vintage set of aircraft seatbelts installed on the drivers side. Also added a spacer above the rear spring to get more spring travel.

And got a bit more bodywork done. 20160926_182643.jpg

And I added something Halloween apropriate for the time beeing to the sediment bowl.... a glass eye

I got a bunch more work done to it...

Made seat cushions for both front seats and the rumble seat. Added vintage aircraft belts to the rear as well.

Welded up some more unfinished areas that I never finished, and did a little Bondo work to smooth out some of the rough areas.

Added door handels and a side mirror. And replaced the gaskets in the fuel guage.

Rebuilt the rear window wood and redid the top.

I also made templates for all the glass and dropped it off to get cut.

Tonight I ran it on an hour drive.. runs and drives great but too much blowby so a rebuild is in its future once I can save up the $$.

What a great project. Cute little dune buggy.
Keep running that engine. It just may sort itself out.
