Thank you so much for the info on the lenses! I have a set off another car that need restoring and this seems to work great!
Silly question here: Did you spray the lenses on the inside, the outside or both? Great tip and nice Merc by-the-way! Dave
I've been keeping them updated and even offered to come take it for a drive. They are very thankful and sweet people.
All wired up.... up front.... love these. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ On to funner stuff, the interior. making cardboard patterns smells like carpentry, yuck! panels cut... ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paper stencil.... Step & Repeat Dimension... Trunk and speaker tray.... All of 'em.... Got some help slingin' glue... Finish work... __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Came a cross a deal where I had to haul this heap home, I only wanted the tires but he wouldn't sell them alone. Spent a saturday parting all the junk out, tires are gonna be perfect though. Worth the time. never left the garage... __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Okay, the seats were a problem from day one. The car only came with a rear seat. Later I picked up a ford bench seat. The time came to cover them which was expensive as hell and once I got the old covers off the springs were in questionable shape. A buddy happened to have a full set of 66 mustang seats with covers he never installed. So, I tore a part a few old bar stools for their swivels and turned the buckets into captains seats. I think a console up front and some armrests in the back will make the set work.
Building all them ramps as a kid helped out... Insulation going down before carpet. (That triangle you see in the rear floor is the access hatch to the master cylinder and brake booster) Fabbed up some door sills. . This was a gratifying moment. Found a human medical crane, I cut it up to make my pipes. Been working on acid washing, painting and undercoating everything you can't see. . Front turn signals. Ground, filled and smoothed. Lexan (sanded to frost). A little heat and patience. paint. Payoff. Meanwhile, "G" is polishing all the shiny stuff.... Man, we're getting close....
That is one Great Build that You Done you Should be Very Proud of your Talent.! just my 3.5 cents or when the Cows come Home!
Like the idea with the swiveling seat but how do keep from swiveling when you drive. Serious question. Great project you have going on.
Just sanded down till I got to 800 grit. I didn't polish, although a more meticulous guy would have. To be honest, I was a little scared of handling the lenses anymore than I had to as they are really dry and brittle. Hence the fogging and cracking.
