I have a couple of 9" Ford third members to sell. Any ideas on cheap container to hold this heavy chunk for shipping?

What are you selling? You can PM me if you prefer. Speedway may have those buckets for sale less than the Amazon piece that was mentioned.
The buckets we had used were from MSC and have screw on lid (sorry not Menards or Home Depot). http://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/92758887?rItem=92758887
Fastened, just sent a 800lb pallet load of parts for from KC to Las Vegas for $220. Smaller and lighter will be cheaper, and it was an easy deal to get done.
I always preferred metal pails. Some paints still come in them. Put the third member in a heavy plastic bag. Put some expanding foam in a plastic bag in the bottom of the pail and set the third member in ring gear down while the foam is still expanding. Put another bag of expanding foam on top and put the lid on while the foam is soft.
Back when housings were cheap guys would cut one down to use as a carrier for the pumpkin and weld brackets on it but now that isn't cost effective. I'd go with the heavy duty bucket inside a crate built to just hold the bucket. Make it so it's real easy to slip a hand truck under it and put decent hand holds on it so it's easy to pick up. You might check with this Dale and ask if he has any left that he advertised on this OT board. Nice looking box for a nine inch for 40 bucks. http://www.pro-touring.com/threads/...rage-Shipping-Container-Ford-9-inch-Mopar-etc A bit of poking around shows that that one is this model here. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/JAZ-Products-700-009-01-Low-Profile-Protecto-Pumpkin-Case,440.html Running the Jaz number might get a better deal yet
