Technical Question about Chevy Intake

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Steffen Jobst, Sep 22, 2016.

  1. ^ I had the pleasure of riding in one years ago. They could damn near go any where. Not quite as fun as an air boat though.

And the trophy girl is known as the Sippy Queen (the big Holes in the track under the water are known as Sippy Holes). The winner gets to throw the Sippy Queen in the swamp

Back in the early to mid 70's there was a movie out called "Dirt". It had several mini-features about various kinds of dirt racing. The swamp buggies were one, the Baja racers were another. They both looked like they would be fun to me. I wish I could find a copy of it on DVD, but I may have been the only kid in the world that thought it was a good movie.:)

Yeah I know the "funny name thing". It's the same over here in germany.... and I hate it :).
Automotive history is a serious thing. We make something important and not criminal or immoral stuff.
Writing about all this under pseudonym with "funny names" makes it a bit "untrustworthy" like littel teenager in role-playing games.
My name is Steffen Jobst - and I have no problem this name being seen in connection with automotive history.;)

Back to topic: When the intake is from a swamp-buggy - Winters/GM have produced them specially for swamp-buggys? I can not believe this.

They were manufactured for production, street driven, automobiles. What they eventually ended up on is only limited by imagination.:D

When they were produced for production, street driven, automobiles why don't they appear in any list and why does no one knows them from production cars?

No. Sometimes it looks like that we talk about untrustworthy, criminal or immoral stuff because everybody is writing under pseudonym.

  12. Some intakes were made for Marine use (boats) and some were made for military (army, Navy, Airforce, Marines) So they would not show up on automotive lists.

I hide behind the funny name "squirrel", but I also put my real name on my posts. Just to confuse you.

In my case, it doesn't take much...:p And yes, my real name is George, and I own too many falcons. I thought about using "jaded iconoclast" for a screen name, but I couldn't remember how to spell "iconoclast".;)

    I know and I like.

    ;)

I know it and I wrote many chapters in it.

Huh, that's hard to understand with my small english knowledge.
    Can you explain it?
    And it's spelled "Scheiße".

Sorry about the trouble. I only wanted to say, that in my opinion often discussions in forums (correct word?) are strange and not technical and historic correct because people tell stories they have heard from someone who has herad it from someone else and so on. And I think one thing that helps to support this sampling of rumors ist the fact that many people hide behind pseudonyms and can tell rubbish without stand for it personally-
    Only my experience.
And on the other hand if someone from outside looks in he sees "Dudu23" discussing with "Mr. Zero" and "23565frde56". And the impression of this is not really respectable. And sometimes I think it would be more usefull for our "hobby" and "historical work" we would discuss with real names. But this is also only my opinion.
    Sorry.

It's not worth 400, or someone would have bought it. :) If you really want that intake, you will have to wait a while to find another one, most likely. Or you can search for one in other places, and see if you can find one. Being in another country will not make it easy.

When I was in Germany in the good old U.S. Army we had 114 apc's with 307 chevy engines. Don't remember if they had alum intakes though. The 113's had Detroits.I worked on 551 Sheridans and M-88's and M-60's. Lippy

I'm searching an aluminum intake for an 327 engine. Should be pre 1966.
One of these would be nice: chevy intakes liste.png
