Just a peek at progress on the firewall......:D

  10. Couldn't skin the firewall until the steering box was in place so I made 3/16" boxing plates for the front section of the frame, pretty thick for boxing plates but the driver side was also what the steering box was going to bolt to. I welded 3 7/16" nuts to the inside and tacked it in place.

Bolted the steering box in place and made a top mount from the cross bar under the dash.

Then it was time to make some aluminum panels for the firewall. I used grade 5052, .050 thick.

  11. I couldn't resist sitting the Hilborn injection on there, I made the distributor recess big enough for a magneto in case someone wants to run one in the future.

  12. I made the front end mount/hinge also. Not sure who made the 'glass front end but it is an old one and I don't think it was ever on a running car. It is not too thin, pretty solid but not too thick either. It has a couple of plates with studs glassed in for mounting so I made plates to bolt to those and then a cross bar that would be below the grill opening, next some plates to bolt to the frame horns.

There is flex in that front end when it is open so I will add a couple of diagonal tubes like this and that will really beef it up.

    Beautiful creativity Kev !

  24. Thanks guys! The weight depends on build style and components used. This truck should come in somewhere close to 3,000 pounds. Just a guess.

That's perfect! Maybe at the next H.A.M.B. drags we could set up a match race between Jigsaw and Swiss Cheese.

You could sweep up the garage floor and build a car out of what's in the dust pan.
