Hope it all works out well... speedy recovery! RE the kits, IMHO this is the kit that made hot rod and custom model car building really " happen." It wasn't the first hot rod kit, but it was a HUGE hit. Gary

Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I think I built about a third of those kits. I built a Big T about 15 years ago. It wasn't even close to the original. No nailhead... Different wheels. Just not the same.

Hey man, take it easy with the back thing. Don't rush the healing process.
& thanks for the kit memories too...
I think the T for Two was maybe my first.
Also had the Green Hornet, Sizzler dragster/comp coupe, and of course the original Big'T'.
All long gone of course. But I think I traded the Big 'T' for my first StingRay bike...a beater that I painted pretty much weekly (who knew ya had to put gold or silver base under candy?).:D Later to have the first 'extended' front end in my hick-town.
    Get well quick man.

As an avid collector of tin litho, the boxes are as important,if not more so,than the car itself.Nice collection.

Ryan; best wishes to a speedy recovery. I'm sure you'll be up and running in no time!

Like Hot Rodding, vintage model car kit art work is Americana, and Doug's collection is worthy of a display at a car museum.

Ooooofff,,,,,,,,lower back is no fun. Glad you're getting a re-bush.
Take it easy and do what they say. I had to learn that the hard way.
The ID card at the end cracked me up.

Hope for great results with your surgery, don't be afraid to take some time for yourself. You informed us of your predicament, so most of the guys on here will understand if things are a little slower than the norm. The box collection is amazing, sure brings back memories of my youth. Mostly AMT stuff for me, with The Green Hornet, Black Widow and Big T along with The Slant 6 thrown in there for good measure. The Big T and the Slant 6 are still with me all these yrs. later. All the best man, had a back surgery in 99 and actually need another but it's a coin toss for my gig. You could say I feel your pain, for reals. But to answer the blog entry, holy shit! And what an awesome way to display em as well, has me bordering on envy.

  24. Best of luck with the back surgery! I am going on my seventh week recovery from knee surgery and now I know why my recovery has been so bad. Did not get a Hot Rodder to do it! Anyway I now know what to say when asked what I do. No not Retired  Occupation! "Hot Rodder" Do you need any Tig welding rod for the operation?:p

  26. Best of luck with the back surgery, you're too young to be having that.... :(

And listen to what the Doc tells you to do post-surgery. I've known too many guys who felt sooo good afterwards that they thought they could now do all the stuff they had to quit doing... with disastrous results. My Doc told me if I didn't heed his advice, the second time I wouldn't like it. I told him I didn't like the first time....

Best of luck, hope all goes well. Rehab will be your friend, but most likely hurt like hell.

  28. @Ryan -

Thanks for sharing @Mazooma1's model car box collection! ... Way cool!

Best wishes for a successful surgery, recovery, & rehab.

  29. Hope you feel better soon, and looking forward to hearing how things go... I have no cartilage between L4 and L5, and feel your pain (and shrink about 1/2" every time I lift something heavy)!

    Hi Ryan

Best of luck on getting your back tuned up, had mine done in March with the glue you together deal

They go in on each side with a small hole for the scope etc - drill some small holes - put in air ballons to get it square again - pump them up take out one at a time fill the hole with instant glue and you are good to go

Modern tech is really cool, DND

P.S. i'am a modeler too neat thread on the packages
