I finally got around to posting a build thread on my truck. It was built by my self, grandfather, Dad, and a few very close friends. We all get together every Tuesday to do this. This is the fifth car that we've done, and we do absolutely everything ourselves. She started out as a big 2 ton truck cab, grill, and hood that I got for $200 bucks, a horribly twisted 40 ford car frame, and an old pickup bed trailer that a neighbor had. I wanted to build an earley 30's salt style coupe as most people do, but being only 20 and broke when I started this project that was impossible. So I wanted to make it have that feel as much as possible. After all pickups are the poor man's coupe.

Looks like you're tryin' to corner the market on cool pre-war trucks. This one's just as cool as the 36. Nice work!

You know, I'm usually one of those guys that think that fenderless trucks much past the mid 30's look like crap, but this truck looks COOL! :D

I think that running the hood like that gives it a more finished look, along with the full bed cover. Nice job, and nice use of what you had available to keep the price down, too.

    Later, Kinky6

I gatherd parts as I went, the entire build took 3.5 years with a year break in the middle to gather more parts and money. Thanks for all the compliments guys

Great photos I am just starting on a 38 saw your truck about a year ago and have used it for motivation. This week pushed 38 into the shop and cleaned it out. Started to measure and make a plan. Glad to see your photo thread. It has helped my thought process already added to my favorites. Planning to do a flathead have a couple of them to start from. Great Job.

Brother that's one sweet 38! I'd really appreciate speaking with you. I have a 38 Ford Pick Up that's just waiting for the changes. Any advice/input would be nice. Know anyone that has a grill shell and hood? (Hopefully fairly priced)
Also looking for 28-29 headlights. Much Thx.

    38 Ford Pick Up.
    All original.
Hoping to run the flathead backed with T5.
Anyone know where I can find a grille shell, hood and 28-29 headlights?
Any help would be appreciated. God Bless.

Old thread but still cool none the less. Amazing that to me the less is more approach is still hard to beat. Nice and simple.

Nice build, my son and I are doing one similar to yours, we are heading to the salt flats next year with his 39 ford truck.
