Yeah that brace is used to stiffen the body, mount the rear side of the gas tank, and split the trunk from the interior. I have a metal cover for the brace that we'll be insulating.

    Here are some old pics

Cool I like what you have done. Mine is the same basic idea. I built a solid frame that the tank is bolted to then I welded tabs to that frame where the bulkhead attaches to. I used wood so I could shape it easily as a tight fit to the body contour sealing the cab from the trunk. Using rubber seal on the edge of the wood where it meets the body. It's one thing I really like is seeing different approaches to the same task. Great way to get ideas! [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Got some more updates. Today were tightened up the body bolts, mounted the tank and the Kaiser tails.

So is there going to be a family fistfight to see who gets to drive it on it's maiden voyage?

Hahah I'm still debating if it's going to be me or my dad driving it first.

I drove mine first, very carefully. My dad got in right after and started to driving like he stole it.

Boring updates. Little by little just knocking away at it. Cowl, dash, gauges, and steering all done.

Jeeze who is going to be the brave soul to put fuel in this beauty? First brother to get drops of gas on there forfeits driving privileges for a month.

Thanks a lot man. This is a limeworks safety shifter hooked up to a 700r4. It's a little tricky getting the linkage hooked up around the brake pedal under the floor, but we finally got it last night.

Great day today. Put the face on, headlights and headlight bar, radiator rods, cowl and grille lacing, and some other small things like the battery box and trans dipstick. I painted the vintique insert gloss black this week. After about two hours of taping and another hour or so painting it came out great.

Wow! I can't believe it's that far along and you haven't driven it yet. You're way more patient than I am.

Thanks man. Yeah I'm glad I finally put the front end on. Now you can see it. And yeah the orange works great as a contrasting color against the brown. Really happy with it.

Nothing crazy but we're about the start wiring this weekend coming up. Lot of small stuff out of the way. Most not even picture worthy, but ran all the wiring from the battery to the starter and killswitch. Started to dynomat, mounted my new shiftknob courtesy of @44tooth on instagram, riveted the headlight / firewall / delcoremy gen tags, and since I have no gauge lights I decided to use a motorcycle license plate bolt light to replace the center bolt in the dash rail. Also mounted up the Ron Francis Bare Bonz fuse panel behind the dash, and mounted the ignition / headlight / turn signal panel. The turn signal is a Ron Francis 3 position toggle switch.

More small updates as I had to order allllllll the little stuff for the inside of the car and the door parts. Ton of crap on backorder at first. Finally getting things in the mail on a daily basis. In the meantime we mounted the deck lid and finished the wiring 100%. Can't tell you how many hours we have into fitting the deck lid to the car. I was afraid after it was painted the gaps would shrink and might rub in areas but it clears on all sides perfectly. Hard work paid off. It's rare to see a model a decklid fit nice in the first place. So we're happy. This weekend we mount the doors. Also going to restore the tag I got for it. It reads 30A. Perfect for the car. Going to do it black with orange letters like earlier nj tags.
