    Searching for a 49 Ring and pinion.

    Will any thing else fit ?

    Try Egge machine in Santa Fe Springs California. They specialize in obsolete engine parts for American engines.

    ;)I don't think you can put a ring and pinion in the engine. But I don't know what else might fit for the 49.

  4. Unless it's a 100 point restoration, is there another GM product that could donate an entire rear axle assembly?
    Buick, Olds, Pontiac big car? Maybe change some brackets. But you probably already thought of that.

    Pretty much all cads 1941 to 1956 are the same, other than ratios between stick and automatic. Should be easy to find a complete pumpkin from somebody parting one out.

    Buick is a torque tube so pumpkin won't fit, but just the ring and pinion might.

    FWIW, a '77 seville rear, complete with disc brakes is a great fit...
