My wife and I have been going to the Brimfield Mass. Antique Shows for 34 years. We just got back and here are two of my finds. Wife came home with desk and stuff for the house. Most of the junk/furniture in our home is from there. Anyway my old sign and great mint Legion Ascot Speedway booklet from 1932. A couple of the pages:
Great sign, I've always wanted to go to that show but time and distance always makes it not happen. Is it still as big as I've heard?
Great sign. Looks like Dawson knew that most carburetor problems turned out to be electrical problems and had it covered. Lol Lots of famous drivers on that entry list. Nice scores!
you back easterners got it made when it comes to old stuff. when old stuff was new stuff there wasn't as many people out here in Sunny California.
Maybe this is the place to discuss the myths of Brimfield, can anyone get in? I've been told there are dealer only days and fields that are not open to the public until the good things get picked. Guess it is a two hour drive for me but it never gave off a welcome, come up here and spend your money feeling. Bob
It starts Tuesday officially. On Monday you can find dealers setting up and willing to sell. ( not as strict as is once was). Different fields open each day. Some are free and some charge to get in. You can find plenty to look at in the free open fields. Some venders re-setup in pay fields later in the week to cash in on the opening frenzy. There is some picking between vendors in the pay fields but there is so much stuff you can always find something that was missed. And bargaining is key. Can't insult sellers everyone is there to move junk. I will tell you more in Hershey. MB
It is not a place strictly full of antique / vintage car / truck parts. Think anything and everything else antique and vintage. African face masks, jewelry, furniture, soapstone sinks, clothing, hardware, home crap, tools, etc. You will not find Offy/Miller parts, or anything remotely close to car parts. Period posters or manuals, maybe. It is NOT similar to Hershey!!! Hope this helps.
Elephants Trunk with quality junk, correct? I have no problem buying non automotive crap and flipping it. Bob
I both go to Brimfield as a spectator/buyer as well as a vendor. I try to sell every May show. I love it. Its well worth going too. There is always something hot rod related there. Last year a buddy bought a gorgeous 32 grill for short money
