Art & Inspiration Cars and Trucks on a Pole

There were several Hudson Bar and Grille locations here in SoCal back in the '80's or about that had the front end of a Hudson on the wall. Apparently didn't catch on because I'm not aware of any still in business.

Surprised you ain't been there yet. It's not too far just south of you on Woodward Ave. in Berkley, MI. (at least if you really are in Lapeer).

 

This one has been up there since the early 70s

 

No pics, but I know of a few:

I-65 North in Birmingham, Al--KW semi tractor on pole --Star Trucks and parts, used semi trucks and wrecking yard.

I-10 East, Baytown TX--remains of a BMW Isseta on roof of a building, think it might have been a wrecking yard at some point.

I-59 South, Hattiesburg, MS-- INSIDE hanging from the ceiling AD series pickup , small convenience / truck fuel stop, right beside a Krystal restaurant.

 

In 1975 I went to California, and being a Willys fan, a friend took me to a junkyard / salvage yard that had a 1933 Willys sedan up on a pole. It wasn't for sale. Does anyone remember seeing the Willys ? I can't remember what town it was in.

 

Not the complete car on a ''pole'',.....but ''parts'' of a car...and pretty darn cool if ya' ask me! ...now if I could only find the rest of those cars on a pole!!!

 

How do you get your mail when your drag racing on the weekend...

 

Don't know if it would still be there or not but years ago I was headed north on route 49 in Mississippi somewhere around Hattiesburg and there was a 40 half ton on top of a pole in front of a sales barn/auction house. Should have stopped and made them an offer.

 

I haven't been by this for a while but a well known landmark on the way to the Central Oregon Coast is this Studebaker in a tree near the town of Willamina.

Didn't pay any attention to where it was.
So its a restaurant - didn't know that either.

That's a long way to go for us country folk.

Ennis MT, home of Willies Distillery

 

Not quite a car on a pole but famous none the less. It's resting about 36 ft up a tree.

 

On the north side of US 36 in Central IL near the small town of Atwood there has been an old red Fiat 500 on a pole for 20 or more years, advertising a local pest control company.
