Love the '32 Vicky! Skirts hiked up just enough to be sexy.

  7. This thread captures the look that I love. This picture is from Sacramento Raceway in 1965. It was given to me by a former co-worker as a going-away gift. He took it when he was stationed out there in the Air Force. It has "Garcia brothers" lettered on the doors. 1472700512803.jpg

You guys hit the early to mid sixties nose high stuff quite thoroughly, but what about the earlier stuff, like Comp Coupe/Sedan? Never was into nose high stuff, myself. Check out the engine setbacks and chops on these things. sedans were the kings of the day, 'cause you could stuff the engine back in side the doors, and the driver back over the rear axle. Hell, while your at it, chop the top 6"...

Then, about '58 or so, this little thing kinda changed the rules. It was built, maintained and raced out of a shop about a mile north of my current home, in a shop that is still there. Carl Grimes' Fiat.

The next year, a couple similar cars popped up, and they walked away with all coupe/sedan class gold. In '60, what we now call the "Gasser" and the "Altered" were born. The stuff with the radical set backs went Altered, and the more "streetable" stuff became gassers or fell into various stocker classes.

I like how he put his radiator back near the motor. Our tentative plan for the old sedan that setup.

So many awesome cars on this thread I don't know what to say! Is that Dean Lowe's RPU in post #17?
I started to make over my '31 Tudor in this style, got the slicks and chrome wheels, re-stacked the front spring and was ready to install 'not dropped' front axle when a local guy said he wanted to buy it as it is. Poof, if was gone and an Austin gasser was in the shop in it's place.
