Hey gang I just wanted to start a thread on my 34 roadster project. I've been wanting a 34 roadster for the longest time and since they don't grow on trees it took me about 2 years before I could find a project that was in my price range. A done car would've been easier but they're way way way out of my league. I started with a body that came from Minnesota and I've slowly bought parts mostly from out west to put it back together again. Here's what I started with.

That doesn't look like the typical Minnesota sheet metal I've seen. I'll be watching this build.

  4. WOW!!
That's my dream car. Where did you find that? Looks in pretty good shape.

  5. Where have I seen that pic before?

I think the wheelbase is somewhat short. Going to be twitchy steering. Don't know about the ride quality, but at least you won't get a flat.

image.jpeg The car came with original floors that needed just a little tlc. New sub rails were installed as the originals were just a little too beat. Quick mock up for motivation lol

  12. Wow! You work fast! ;)

That's gonna be a bitchin' ride.

My dream car, since I was 12...
If you got this for a price that you otherwise 'couldn't afford', you were standing right in that ray of Grace we don't see too often! Kudos, that is a jewel.
    "Pickemup" indeed.

  15. That's even better! Trade you a nice 5 window body for it. Those roadsters are windy, noisey, hot, cold, uncomfortable, and just everywhere.

I bought it about 1-2 years ago from a guy in Minnesota. Only reason he sold it was he actually got a better one out of Cali. I almost traded or sold this car during tougher times I'm glad I kept it

image.jpeg Toughest part of the build is going to be rebuilding the front cowl supports which needs to be done before the cowl can be put back into place and then the new rockers installed. My buddy Ray is one of the best local fabricators I've seen so hopefully he will whip up some magic. Guy I bought it from already supplied me with the basics

Check out Flatheadteds model 40 roadster build over on the ford barn, he made his inner cowl pieces and the a pillar brackets, he might have so tips.

Full fendered '33/'34 roadster is one of my dream cars too. I know a guy that has an unfinished '34 with a real cherry body.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg I was wanting to run a 303 olds for the longest time. But I've decided to go back to a flathead. 21 or a 24 stud I haven't decided yet. Either will be backed by a 37 Lasalle converted to torque tube.

Nice 39/40 in the background - the 34 is a great car. Good luck with the build.
