Working on an AMT '58 Impala. This one finished in PPG '58 Chevrolet "Fathom Blue" basecoat/clearcoat. 1472417646737.jpg

Mostly box-stock. Parts box air filters fitted over the kit-supplied tri-power.
Worthy of note w/this kit is the tight clearance of the hood. Use of air filters on top of the tri-power set-up will necessitate grinding the hood out slightly from underneath.Test-fit w/the interior tub in place, and go easy. 1472418012758.jpg

  5. Thanks Joker, I love scratch built models. That would look great beside a matching Hot Rod. Sauli, nice job on the 58 Chevys. Beautiful Paint! I haven't been on the HAMB since this morning. But These are great, and hope to see a few more post today, just a little bump and thanks... 003.jpg

That's the Lindberg 1/8 Check MaTe T-bucket from the early 70's, still have mine. Wire wheel not stock though. I found out the hard way the translucent red metalflake plastic is brittle.

  8. Thanks slingshot, that is my next build. Just so many irons in the fire right now. Bonneville Love those Chevys! The gasser is my favorite. I built a 55 El Camino, {Nomad} drag car as a kid. It had two Hemi s in it, one in the front and the other in the bed. Cool car, but it didn't survive. Because it had to many cool parts on it. That I used for other builds. I know we all do that. lol I hope I can build another one sometime. Thanks for posting your models guys. I enjoy all the craftsmanship, and the imagination too. Model cars are just a lot of FUN. Ron...

  18. BMF I used as a paint barrier on the roof held on with a death grip.
Tissue soaked in alcohol removed it and then some.
Doors and body are in the drink...round two to follow.

Tamiya masking tape is the best I've used. Mask with Tamiya then "back seal" the masking edge with a light coat of your base color (or clear). This will keep your 2nd color from bleeding under your masking tape.

In other words, if the first shoot is white and you're masking for a second color shoot of green, back seal with a light coat of white. This way if any paint seeps under the mask it will be white on white instead of green on white. Once the back seal of white dries, you can confidently shoot green knowing your mask will hold.

Hey give my back my model! :D

    What'cha got in there, kid?

  23. Sauli I will tell you the story about it, and maybe someone can tell us the rest of the story. My uncle Alvin Funkhouser built it in 1960 before going in the service. Its brush painted. I'm guessing it is an AMT ? Here are some better photos of it. Thanks for asking Ron... 063.jpg 067.jpg
