LOW 10S, HIGH 9S, but the mph would indicate about a second faster, with today's transmission and tire technology.
kinda makes me think of a straight 6 on the next project depending on what I use. Was there many 240 or 300 fords used? or mainly the chevy or slant 6?
After the mid sixties when the 240/300 was introduced many of the front runners switched to Ford power; some with hybrid V8 heads. Search Arnold, Andrews, Williamson, Majors, Huettman, Ambrose, Treadwell, Sizemore and others.
Anything would have been ran. The 302 Jimmy with a Wayne head was probably the most common inliner of the "front runners"
Dave Malcom's dragster has always been a favorite of mine. A local car, I remember riding my bike by Lanears shop as a kid and seeing it when he was building the headers. Rumor is Dave still has the car and it's slated for a restoration.
It is kind of cool to see what people did in the day to push the limits with what they had. Would have never looked twice at a inline.
I had an old truck with a Blue Diamond 260 that was pretty impressive. The Black Diamond 308 is basically the same engine. They have 7 mains and are about the same size as a GMC. It would need a better head. I have seen after market intakes for them at swap meets.
Don't have one just thinking. I ran into the guy that has my old "First National" at Hot August Nights after I had seen an aluminum intake at the swap meet and it just got me thinking. I think too much and do to little. I saw on another old thread where you were talking about a Red Diamond. I guess they are all diamonds in the rust .
That looks like a Model Y Ford - the predecessor to the Anglia. Three SU carbs, DOHC, I'm guessing Jag power.
All I know is Red Diamond lifters fit in a '32 Plymouth lifter bore and have the same dia. foot. So, if you want to convert a 32 Plymouth to OHV, Red Diamond is it.
Yes, that's a Jaguar six; the body was however an Austin Ruby. The Jag was replaced by a V8 later on. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Awesome Scott. I can close my eyes and visualize Bruce Sizemore in another era making similar sounds. Good run.
I believe that's David Majors. The number 1 signifies NHRA World Champion. Ford 300 six with a crossflow cylinder head. (Who'd ever be crazy enough to race one of those?)
