Keith sent this photo today. First time the deck lid has been on since being painted. Nice back end, eh?

Keith, Ryan, John, Your '32 is really outasite! Love the black/brown/cream color combination and the chrome touches in all the right places. Really excellent. BO

Bo, We plated everything in nickel so it should age out faster and go dull long before chrome would have. I will do my best to wear the paint out so it too looks weathered soon. Thanks for the compliments.

    Pinch me. Is it real?

I'll be there tomorrow and will probably have a hard time sleeping tonight after watching this video (20 times).

Thanks to Keith for building this car beyond my expectations. I'm so happy with it.

So, I've been asked about an update on this car a ton recently... Things got a little nuts. Essentially, we go the car from paint and it looked great. It then sat in the sun and the paint bubbled. So, it went back to the painter. He spot fixed it and then it bubbled again. So, now here we are:

Just one of those hiccups that drives you nuts. Everyone including the painter has done the best they can given the circumstances, but shit happens.

    Updates as they come.

  18. "Fucking Bummer" is right. I just finished stripping the paint off on mine because I fucked up the colour and hated it so I know how much it sucks.

As he said,"what can you do", just fix it and move on. We are dealing with a similar issue, just not as bad right now. Yes, it's a bummer.

    Man I relate to that...

I had that happen with the 58 Impala convert I did a few years back- what ended up being the culprit? When I left to go work with the guys at A.S.S. and we did that Pilot for Outlaw Garage the car was starting to flash rust as it was sitting in bare metal. The cleanup kid was instructed by the shop manager to wipe it down with metal conditioner/cleaner made by Eastwood or something....(I'm always very cautious of acids under paint and had no idea he did this)... he did not NEUTRALIZE the stuff he sprayed on so it stayed active. The entire car was sanded to a nice metal finished sheen before any ground work was done afterword and it did this exact thing... BUBBLED... At a microscopic level that acid was still active and the paint lifted. It was crazy- We ended up stripping the entire car, was a total heart breaker. I neutralized it with something, I want to say baking soda... but you have to make sure you get all of that off too-

When you do that much work and finish them out to this level you tend to get very intimate with those cars... Was never a huge fan of 58's before but now I feel like I want to own a 58 wagon some day. Easy cars to fall in love with.

It'll be worth it Keith- Keep your head up.

Kieth is doing the best thing, strip it and start over. If the substrates don't adhear nothing else will, a sweaty hand print will lift to. Back to square one, that's exactly why no one will guarantee his work over some one else's prep.

That's the world I live in, luxury home building. Sometimes crazy shit happens, all you can do is make it right and . . . never stop learning. There's a take-home message in every fuckup. At the end of the day, the reputation is made as much by standing behind it, as by the work itself.

Incredible hot rod. But the car is begging for a different color. Not trying to offend.

Be sure to use a good air dryer on your air line even for primers. The rule is at LEAST 40 ft. from the compressor. If you don't get the moisture out it will cause blisters in the final paint.

The hammer missed the window so I installed one where the hammer went thru the wall.

I don't always paint my cars brown, but when I do, I use the ugliest color in the world. Downtown Texas Brown.
