Wheelsmith 15" on front,16x10" on back.

 

I guess this is a good thread to finally ask what version of wire wheels these may be? The caps are small and seem almost flush and they don't look newer versons, Wheel Vintiques has one that looks similar but looks like it has more spokes. I also guess they must be 15" or 16" the way they look compared to the brake drum/cover! I guess my eyes are just getting old.

Skylarks were the top of the line back in 1960 in our neck of the woods. I was able to purchase a set of 5 pristine Buick Skylark wires for $125 of my hard earned box boy salary. But, I thought that was a deal. I had Henry's Axle Shop re-drill out my 1958 Chevy Impala hubs/axles to the Buick Skylark patterns. Those Skylark wires looked so cool on my black car. Now, I had a real drag racer/cruiser car to wow the locals. Ha! They were the hit of the drive in circuit.

But, a sad ending to those Skylark wires. They were one of the top items to be stolen in So Cal back then. My car was wedged in between several cars so no one had access. But, somehow, the thieves got to my car and it disappeared until 2 a.m. when we found it in a darkened corner of a park about 5 miles away. It was up on boxes with the Skylark wheels missing. What a bunch of low life people. So, if anyone with a 58 Impala has odd ball lug nuts and patterns that aren't Chevy, they might be the Buick bolt patterns.

One good thing came out of this theft. The thieves did not know that I had a 5th wire wheel in the trunk and later I was able to sell it for $150.

Just wondering did you run the 17"x 3 1/4 in the back or did you widened the rear rim. thanks looks killer just wondering because I'm wanting to do some wires on my roadster and I'm thinking I would like to do something like this. And what tires are you running ?
