Thanks, DND. Do you or anyone else know who owned/drove it?

  7. Thanks for the reply. I don't get some guys. You would think the current owner of "Baby Cakes" would want all the info he could get on the car! Thanks again, Bob

Here is another picture of Bill Coburn's Fiat coupe, this time in gray primer. It kept the nose with grill that Bill ran on his earlier '34 Ford competition coupe. In the background is the Heidelberg Speed Shop altered, and Carl Grimes bus that he hauled his Buick-powered Fiat in. Behind the bus is the Mackey and Veselka Bantam-bodied competition coupe. This was the time of steel bodies, before fiberglass, and homemade chassis and engines.

The bus looks like it would be as much 'fun' to drive as the Fiat.

    Hello,
Here is a compilation of all of the Dragmaster racers that I shot between 1959-60 at Lions, Riverside, and Bakersfield. Most of them are Dode Martin and Jim Nelson. But there are some that I cannot identify. Plus, they all had wire wheels except for that gold one with the red rims. Maybe someone can identify the unknowns...296ardun has resources like no other... Good luck in your search...I like the American Mags, myself...
    Thanks,
    Jnaki

Another great video!! All the pictures of the Potvin-blown Dragmaster were Nelson & Martin. At .26 there is a flathead powered Dragmaster chassis that I think was called "Dragmaster Little Thing," but don't remember who ran it. At .36 Dragmaster is racing Dick Lechien from San Diego in the Adriance Appliance TE-440 (with a very large injector scoop), and at .43 Dragmaster is racing Glenn Stokey. At .53 Dragmaster is racing Jack Chrisman in the Sidewinder. at 1.13 Dragmaster is racing Bayer and Frietas at Lions, and at 1.37 Bayer and Frietas again, this time at Riverside. These were the days of the fuel ban, so the cars were all gas burners. I don't know who ran Dragmaster Two Sum, all I know is that the guy posing with it is not Jim Nelson nor Dode Martin.
I could watch these videos for hours on end...I was one of the lucky ones who spectated at Lions during these times, and later was fortunate enough to race there. Never forgot the fog rolling in, and the mixed scents of nitro, tire smoke, and the fumes from the nearby oil refinery (which is still there). THANKS FOR POSTING!

Saw this great video of cars of my youth, nice push trucks also. You can almost smell the fuel.

I'm guessing the smell of burgers frying too.
I can't pass up a coke shack if I catch a whiff of a greasy track burger.

It was great going to Irwindale as one of the strip owners was the owner of ' In & Out Burgers ' and that is what we had there

I think at the time they only had one burger stand just down the street, so the strip was the second place to get them

    Cripes DND
You're making me hungry and I just ate breakfast.
I've had a few In/Out burgers on SoCal trips, about the best fast stop burgers ever.
I heard they were coming up here but have not found any close to me.

So far, only one Oregon location - in Medford. My transplant daughters (one in Eugene and another in Portland) are watching the expansion program carefully.

I know it says "Two Sum" on side of the car but in my 'foggy' memory I thought "Two Sum" was the first two engine car (side by side) of Dragmaster. My uncle Jim worked for them but it was before all this.

  26. The Dragmaster twin was the Two Thing.

Well worth the wait hazguy, every time I see shots of the Stahl car I get pretty worked up.
Friend had a 66 street edition Hemi Belvedere that he raced in SS/D (stick) in the early 70's.
Factory 2x4, 4 speed, Dana 60. The first real hot rod I ever layed my hands on.
These things were pure animal when in good tune.
    Thanks
