This weekend i’ve been out driving !

Adrian’s goal was to get me driving the coupe to a large hot rod show, nearby to his workshop this weekend.

Arriving at the workshop it was hard to take my eyes off the coupe, it looks so good !

Eventually i got in it and typically it decided not to start !

Leaky carb was most likely to blame, but then it coughed into life. Good to hear the hemi once again roar into life, even better as i’d replaced the bearings and was waiting for the crunchy noises.

The 5 speed transmission is a bit stiff being new, it has a real positive clunk shift about it, nice light clutch feel, off we go, then there’s the whine from the quick change !

Sounds like pure race car inside, very wicked !

I even managed to test the lsd pulling out a junction to quick, ooops, bit of sideways action and arse clenching.

Lots of driving around the show field and camp site was to follow, got it covered in dust, but had the biggest cheesy grin on my face all weekend.

But then i had to give it back… as there wasn’t time to get it completely finished, only a week to go though

Got it dirty already, driving round and round !

I heard afterwards via my ex-pat mate in California that your car was at the NATS!!

    Doh !

Ha ha... it is very subtle and easily missed, the green paint on a green field don't help !

You're not the only one that didn't see it.

Hope to bump into you sometime when i'm allowed to have my car back... i might have to fight him for it !

So… this is what i gave Adrian, i asked him to fit the Hemi, but keep the car looking the same. Not an easy task but he was up for the challenge !

This is the end result 7 months later:

Adrian’s grand finale photo’s, good excuse for a test ride… take it home

I think he nailed that one !
Completely changes the look with the hood back on. Back to stock, kind of, if you squint a bit, lol

This may be an over used word, but that thing is AWESOME! Absolutely beautiful, inside & out. This has been one of my favorite threads, watching the development of this car from the unchopped banger car to this final stage has been a lot of fun. Enjoy that car man, that thing is a keeper!

And Adrian and the guys at Buckland Automotive are mechanical artists! Stellar workmanship!

Thanks for following along with my little car's journey, glad you enjoyed it. They are indeed artists !

People were shocked when i said the hemi was going in it. I was in two minds myself, after enjoying a few trips with the ol banger. But seeing it now... what's not to like :)

It's even better in real life, like it came from the factory that way ;)

Can't get over how tough that thing looks. I can hear it humming "little deuce coupe, you don't know what I got ;)"

  22. I love the full fender look and the way she has bulges in all the right places! Awesome vision and work.
