Thanks twenty8 that is a surreal event with surroundings to match. You nailed the salty flavour of it all...;)

driving around on the streets after being out on the Salt is a like a badge of honor - but, be sure to clean every inch of your ride, even the ones that can not be seen, as soon as possible

  15. I had my Trailblazer washed at the end of the road...and then drove in the rain on and off for 3 days. No salt under ther now.

Don't kid yourself Charlie. You WILL walk out one day and there will be a clump of salt in the street. If I were you I'd put it up on jack stands and take all the wheels off now. There are places you can't believe will get salt stuck in them. I had discs rust from the inside out....

Thanks for showing me what I missed,,, yes we were there but with photography, calendar sales, and making passes, I missed a lot....

  19. It has made 5 trips to the salt since 2007 and is still exceptionally rust free. Some of the black is fading on the frame rails but all lines still look good. Considering it has been my daily every Michigan winter since new and has 142K on it I'm not too concerned. Your points are well taken though.

How in the world do you keep something rust free in Michigan? Haha half that many miles in ohio and stuff is really bad.

  22. Something that's always worked for a friend of mine is parking it outside and run a sprinkler under the car to really flush all the salt out. The longer the better.

I have most all of it off the fenders.. Going to pop the bed off to get some of the back taken care of..

Yeah @Petejoe I don't think I could take a completely painted done nice car out there.. Wouldn't have been bad if I stuck to where people were driving, but I drove off route to take some pictures and that's where a lot of this came from

Seen a lot of people running sprinklers but the fenders caught most of it.. And all the frame and most of the underside is bare metal, don't want to get it all soaking wet..

I sprayed it with Gibbs before going out.

Coming all apart this winter for paint so shouldn't cause to much trouble.
