hi all has anyone attended the James dean show or ducktail event in Indiana? my wife and are thinking about going this year any input out there ? thanks
Ducktail is usually the better of the two, more cars and a bigger and better swap meet. That may have changed over the years though as I haven't gone in a couple of years. They are close enough to one another that many people do both. See for yourself and post pictures if you go.
My bro and I went last year, to both, had a great time... Here's an article I wrote about the event(s)... http://www.rodauthority.com/event-coverage/the-36th-james-dean-festival-kustoms-galore/ R-
I usually go to Duck Tails, it's a lot better. More cars, more swappers. Thru the years James Dean has seen to have gotten smaller. If you have time just do both, they are only a few miles apart.
The wife and I did the Duck Tail on Friday last year. It was our first time and had a blast. We didn't make it to the James Dean festival. This year we plan on attending Friday and Saturday.
Last year it seemed to me that the James Dean had picked up attendance quite a bit! (for sure on Saturday) to answer your question- "Do both" they are like 9 miles apart....
Do both, I've done since there became two, done the James Dean festival since 1987, haven't missed it and don't plan too!
We had one here in CA., right in 'Choalomane' (spelling?) at the site of James Dean's horrible death. The site is commemorated with a 4' X 6' sign, the 'park' is dusty and few trees. The first one was sponsored by Toby Hallock, who used the site with our cars as a backdrop for his second movie after 'Gone in 60 seconds'. Sadly, Toby was killed doing a stunt on Hollywood Blvd. the next day. My wife and I were peering into the side window of a chopped '51 Merc, and the camera caught us. Just a fleeting few frames, we were cooling it in Bells and cowboy boots, western hats. (1979?)
