I am in the process of cutting down my Model B pan. I am taking the flywheel housing area off at the rear. I want to add a Model A flywheel housing and use my aluminum adapter to mate up with a '39 transmission. My questions are: how much do I take off the B oil pan and how do I alter the flywheel inspection cover?

I just did that about a month ago. I cut it all off with a torch from the inside of the housing so as not to burn thru the pan and just ground it smooth. I left the spot welded parts on it. Also left the extra rear two bolt tabs where it bolts to the block. You will just have to reshape the flywheel cover to go around the larger rear main of the B engine till the 3 bolts line up in the model a flywheel cover. Do this once the flywheel cover is on the engine...Greg
