    Hello,
As a teenager, we had tons of fun in that 40 Ford delivery. It was easy to work on and the only thing I had to constantly do was to stop by the local cheap gas station. I had to fill up a gallon can with recycled oil. This stock flathead motor had a leak that I could not fix nor did I have the money to get it fixed. So, this recycled oil was very inexpensive. I had to pump it out of a huge barrel to fill up the gallon can. Then I poured enough to fill up the motor. Finally, I went back to the recycled oil drum and filled up another gallon can for the ride home from school or to the beach. Not only did my daily driver passengers pay $.50 a week (for gas) for a ride to school, that money paid for the recycled oil, too. Sometimes, they pitched in when an extra trip to the beach was necessary.
They had the pleasure of riding in the back to and from school smelling like burnt oil when it got really bad. But, they would not be seen in any other vehicle while parked in front of the high school. On our trips from Long Beach to San Clemente's famous surf spot, Trestles, it took a gallon of oil down and a gallon of oil back to Long Beach. It was really something, but on a second date, the girls usually asked to ride in my other car, the black 58 Impala. Was it the smell of burning oil or the look of the salmon pink "old jalopy car" that got to them? Who knows girls/women??? It was fun while it lasted as those were the fun times in high school.

In 1972, my wife enjoyed riding in the "newer version" of the same 40 delivery. Everything worked on that car, no leaks, great ride, power, comfort, and cool air conditioning. When i told her of the old delivery and the oil smell, well...it was good that this newer version did not smell like burning oil on those trips up and down the coast. Women and comfort go together for a lasting relationship...

I saw this coupe at Pain field two weeks ago and thought the traditionalists would like this coupe. I didn't get to speak with the owner but did manage to get a few shady pictures. Just a nice clean old custom!

Cruise night in Wichita, Kansas. It was a hoot! This picture in front of Artist At Large Tattoo. Some of you may know the proprietor. Dennis was serving up root beer floats for those that stopped by. It was a fun night!

I saw your truck at Deuce Days, in the lot behind Days Inn with olds caps on it, looked good.

  15. It wasn't mine, I wasn't there.
I'd like to see it, if anyone had a chance to get a picture of it.

I do, but I am in Vietnam right now, I have no way to post it, it's back home on my desktop computer in Vancouver! It really looked like yours, I was assuming it was the whole time. Pale green with early olds 88 wheel covers.

If you go into my albums on my profile page, and look in the "Deuce Days 2016" album, it's on page 15.

  18. Thanks, It does look a lot like mine.
Great selection of pics by the way!

Posted this on the 40 Social Group, but here it is for those who don't belong.

I did not get a shot of anywhere near all 40's, but here are the ones I did. The last one is the worst mess up of a 40 I have seen. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
