I forgot the best pic. I grabbed my wife from the garden to give me a visual of how everything was fitting.

 

Not much new to report as the house is keeping me pretty busy but I did have my flywheel lightened a bit and my clutch disk re-lined.



I also lengthened my drag link so the steering is done. (No pics)

I made a gas pedal modeled after one that is in the Atlas Chrome Special.

I dig the heal rest and the little side guide in the pedal. Good idea and puts your foot right where it's supposed to be every time

Ha! I kept thinking of ol' Crafty Dick Kraft when we were taking the pics! She took some of me but I'm fatter and uglier than Dick so I will spare you all, ha!

With most of the key pieces in place I decided to start trying to figure out what the body is going to look like for the thing. I picked up some plywood and started goofing around with dash and firewall ideas. The structure of the cowl will be made out of angle iron and tubing but I don't want to commit to anything until I make a (somewhat full) mockup of the body. Baby steps.

 

Having that wood shop is handy I see! Looking good Mike. Mixing bias plies and radials? Your a wild man! Lol

 

You've got great taste. The Detroit special is my favorite non Miller board era car! First time I've seen this build thread,nice work!

Well we had a meeting of the minds today.
We test fit the car, checked all the angles and in the end concluded that it meets code satisfactorily and work may continue.

 

Yesterday I was able to spend most of the day and evening in the shop. I did a little craft time cut and paste with some cardboard and plywood to get an idea what this little guy was going to look like. There is a little refining to do here and there but for the most part I like the shape!



And pushed outside for a looksee...

 

Oh and then this morning @Rootie Kazoootie posted this pic on my favorite sprint car history thread. I'm pretty jazzed because I feel like mine is looking pretty similar to this one proportionally?

 

This rules so much!!!!!! I'm excited! I wish tuki was here to see all the progress but he's too busy losing going fast?
