It is a '35, but it doesn't matter either way, grab it. And grab that Merc. And, you better grab all that other stuff while you are at it.

35 front fenders swoop into the running boards(like 33/34) and 36 come down and then turn and go to the running board.

Taillight stand is '35. The stands on the '36 are more "swoopy".

Early '35 at that. The cowl sides are smooth, no X stamping, and there is not spot for the rubber hood bumpers '36s had.

Some late 35s have the x on the firewall... Everything else is 35

  14. '35 headlight stands are a separate piece that goes between the fender and the headlight bucket, while the '36 headlight stands are stamped as an integral part of the fender, so '36 headlights are not as high up off the fender as '35. The '35 headlight buckets are the same as '38-'39 truck. The bucket itself is the same for '36 car, but the mounting stud is shorter. '35-'39 truck uses the same lens and ring as '35 car. The '36 lenses are more convex or "bug eyed" and take a different ring. I have '36 bug eyes on my '38 pickup, best thing you can do for the front end appearance of '38-39 Ford trucks.

I see a ding and a crease, no X. In the 3rd picture, I think what you're reading as the line going forward and down is either a shadow or weathering. The ding that reads as the top of the line going forward and up is too far back. It should be right at the corner where the firewall bends down. You can also see the smooth panels in the first two pics. It's late, if my description doesn't make sense I can take some pics tomorrow. I've got 5 35-36 cowls sitting around right now.

The car is also a deluxe, its got dual taillights and a waterfall.

    Definitely worth grabbing.

    Hey gang,
Sorry I haven't checked in to see this post. Thanks for all the reply's I now know for sure what it is. I will hopefully be picking it up around the middle of September and bringing it home. I will do a thread once I have it and the donor car in my possession.
Perhaps some of you guys that really know these cars can tell me what is missing off the front end as in panels or frames for the rad. Obviously I see the hood and grille are missing but not sure if there is a rad cradle or other mounts or parts missing.
If anyone could add some pics that would be great
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

VIN should be on the top of left frame rail, near the steering box mount. There is a small filler panel that lives ahead of the front cross member between the frame rails missing. The grille is missing, as is the louvered panel that fits between its lower mounts. The radiator mounts on top of triangular gussets ahead of the cross member, one on each side, attached to the frame rails. Yours are *probably* there. The top of the radiator has rods that run to the firewall. Your hood is missing (obviously). Sorry, I'm at work, no pictures.

  27. VIN should be on top of left frame rail near steering, it should also be in two other places that are not visible without removing the body on top of the left frame rail under the body. See: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_serialnumbers.htm
