If the guy had any sense he would have been pointing out the statue across the street of ol' Beauregard von Higgenlooper III, who lost the Battle of Chuggamugga - twice.

$4,879.25 in 1965 had the same buying power as $36,989.25 in 2016

Annual inflation over this period was about 4.05%

    Hello,

We took many trips up to our favorite Nor Cal location, San Francisco during the 66-69 time period. It was the place to be in the bay area. The music, the scenery, the people, the stores, were all found in one location, “the Haight.” This location was famous in this time period and was known as the Haight Ashbury district. The buildings were old and very colorful. At the end of the streets, there was a huge park that was the gathering place for a lot of activity.

We wish we were able to take more photos of this time period, but back then, people with cameras were seen as informants for the police/government. That was not cool. We took several shots on the Haight, but decided to stop taking more. In our travels up here, our 65 El Camino looked like a worker’s delivery truck and fit right in to the scene. The bay area is a treasure trove for photo locations, Berkeley, all along the bay shoreline, Sausalito and Marin County, and the ever present Golden Gate.

Here are a few vintage shots from those times, sorry there aren’t more…we just did not feel right about taking more shots at the time…Historically, I could have shot a million photos, but ended up with only a few.

    Thanks,

    Jnaki
