after going through this there seems to be a HUGE range of what people think is classy... so here's my go.

this one is probably an accidentally classy kustom:

    and another brougham:

this one belongs to someone on here, forget the dude's name:

  10. I'll second that. If those are real Eldorado Broughams, that's sick! They only made 99 '59's and 101 '60's. Hand made bodies in Italy, Gappetto tinking away with hammer and dolly...now those are sweet.

yes all broughams. The 59 is cool as well but I tend to focus on the 60.

I really like this thread. For me I think about this thread in terms of defining what classy even means. When GM or any other brand was building a car that was intentionally they used to: top of their line, highest quality, absolute best materials available, most attention to detail, and excellent design. They did not necessarily have to use a lot of chrome or have tricks to it, but it did have to be timeless. So I look for the same in a classy kustom.

I almost posted this continental mark ii, for example, but disqualified it once I saw the interior.

And these pictures I think may be the first car that ever brought me to this site. I think it qualifies from what i've seen since it's chopped just right and has since been finished, unlike this one for example- http://www.rodcitygarage.com/2012/02/1947-buick-sedanette.html which is dope but too much to be classy even once its finished.

The white 1960 Eldorado Brougham is mine as Jaytee said. It's #86 of 101 hand built by Pinin Farina in Turin, Italy. Not a kustom, per se, exclusive and rare though lake mirror 1.jpg

You've got some excellent taste in cars (I spotted that GM show car in the photos as well). The 1960 eldorado brougham is my dream car in every sense of that phrase. I see them as custom from the factory, especially when the bags are still working or replaced with aftermarket, so I posted those few here.

  25. Can you tell us how you came about it? It's so rare, I suppose they only show up at serious auctions, and I'm sure they are all accounted for.

There have been four for sale in southern california in the last year that I know of. One in most people's opinion beyond restoration but on this site anything is possible. It was #8 from 1960 and sold for like 8k on ebay. The same guy was trying to sell his "restored" #2 from 1960 for 30k. It probably needed $50k+ worth of work so I didn't pull the trigger but probably should have. Another went onto the block in Auctions America's Santa Monica event and was a much better car than #2 and sold for 68k (not including fees). Lastly a 1959 went onto ebay but did not meet reserve I think three times. It apparently had a frame off restoration about 10 years ago, although I found that to be an exaggeration and it was more likely a 15-20 year old restoration. The seller wanted "offers above 50" but was a super grumpy/uppity dude who answered none of my questions and refused to show me the car before any of the auctions were over.

  28. Man the Ayala's nailed it with this car! Louise must have felt like a king driving it around L.A.
