Each one of those cars have dual underslung muffler belts, and triple overhead brake linings - they were all built by the Automotive Hobby Shop at Folsom Prison, so of course, they're all painted Folsom Prison Blue.

The answer I was looking for was all the photos were by George Barris of Barris Kustoms in front of same house.

There are many beautiful house in Calif.

WHY did Barris use this house?????

This is picture of the house I take in 1997.

    Interesting...
You can make a good guess at the chronology and time of year the pictures were taken by the size and amount of foliage on the plants.

And only one of them has that palm tree growing out of the roof...
The other one from the same angle has the bush grown up enough that the tree is hidden at car roof level.

Judging from the fact its a palm tree not a telegraph pole my dad didn't take the pics :)

  20. I'd guess that maybe it's the photographer's house and George would just drive over to get pics snapped. On the other hand, I think George may have done quite a bit of photography himself (that appeared in the mags). So, could it be his house?

  29. It's a stylish house and makes a good backdrop. It sets the cars off nicely without being distracting. The expanse of grass and the parallel lines of curb and roadway all help to separate the subject from the background. The grass is like a stage, the house is the backdrop, the car is the model/actor/performer. It all has to do with that Greek sense of drama and symbolism. Check out the urns/amphora by the entrance. You didn't notice those at first, did you?

George is not only a proficient photographer and director of talent he is also a creature of habit. Once he established a good point of reference it would have been impossible for him to stop using it. Plus he probably didn't have to pay for the location.:D

I'd be willing to bet that these were all shot in color. The B/W is the result of magazine publication/reproduction.

Looks like it could use a little TLC. What neighborhood is that?
