Id love to go, my granddaughter (11) wants to go this year. I took my nephews a few years ago and they had a good time. But getting a room has just gotten Impossible over the last ten years or so. I have no idea how you guys do it. A lot of years we had six guys dialing from the moment they "opened the phones". Getting a room for Saturday and Sunday only is just forking tough. End up staying in Wells, but even Wells is getting hard to find a room.

If I cant find a room Ill probably just drive down by myself and wing it. Ive done this plenty of times. Just don't want to do it with my granddaughter, I want her to be semi comfortable lol.

 

I'm making the trip again this year and booked a while back at the Best Western. We stayed in Wells in 2008 and it was ok but a long way out. Really looking forward to it again for my dad too who is along for the ride.

 

Was lucky to get a room at Best Western due to a cancelation, COOOLJW

 

Got my room at the nugget and been working on checking the new hot rod over to be ready for the trip in August....Come on mother nature be nice to us....We want to go racing this year..

 

Can't wait. We'll be roughin' it at the bend again this year

 

I am giving the #974 1953 Studebaker a quick sloppy paint job. A new look for 2016. I am calling it the last hurrah tour. We usually pit on the front row about half way or further down the pits. Stop by and say hello.

Marlo's car went 359 today. 8 1/2 mile course. lost one chute. Still had room to stop OK. Sounds pretty encouraging.

 

Ok I stole this from the SCTA site,,, its looking good!! Short course,,, I can see the Salt Circus right there!

 

And the weather forecast looks like it is holding. JC

someone needs to get approval for a mini tram to shuttle people around, with a port-a-john in tow. plus, a video of going around and visiting in the pits, watching at the starting line, evening happenings in town, etc

 

They striped the teeth off the quick change gears today. Done for now.

Ok thanks. The reason I cant get a room is because I only need Friday through Sunday. Seems everyone wants you for a whole week. I just cant take the time off of work.

Sorry you aren't going to make it. Two years without Speed Week has been a bummer.

Is there a live broadcast this year? It was streamed a couple years ago, also had the local FM broadcast which made it easy to watch and listen.

 

Go to the SCTA website, I believe it is being streamed live again this year.
