I just picked up the first aluminum block casting from my welder. It had some spots where some sand broke off and created voids in non-functional areas. I will grind it all up, have it heat treated and then machine it up.

The crank will be put in next and then everything gets assembled to get ready to run.

I took a picture that shows the crank and cam installed but I must have moved a little bit because there is a little bit of blur to the picture. I could still post it regardless, if anyone is interested in seeing my shoddy photography.

Great! Congratulations on the first running prototype Tod!!!!!!! Just a side question; what was done inside to achieve the 60 lb oil pressure that is showing on the gauge? At least share some of the particulars of the build and its parts. I'll have to send a PM regarding where I am at on your potential block list...... Thanks, and Best Wishes, Steve

Congratulations! You're doing a great thing that will help people keep them on the road. I wish you much financial success. You deserve it

  18. That little engine is so impressive! I don't know how any "expert" can tell that it isn't an original, except it doesn't have a serial number. And, I think those original type stamps are around, so that it would have to be "torn down" to have a chance to be found to be a replica. GREAT JOB! And amazing dedication!

I have an aluminum block in one of my machines and am working on production programming. I also have a 2nd aluminum block (a 5 main) just about ready to pour out of aluminum. I am very busy with normal production work and trying to get my new Thomas head ready to cast while finishing up 3 more sample Winfield heads for waiting customers. It's been a bad summer for progress due to several little problems with machines. That slows me down and cost money to fix and costs production cash flow. Since I have to do just about everything myself it is just slow going.

I hope to start machining my new headers today and new single carb intakes in a week or so.

Basically, it is a better designed version of the old one Snyder sold. The tooling for that yielded very poor castings that were inconsistent beyond tolerable acceptance. I made my own tooling with dedicated fixturing to get more uniform results.

  26. A magnet would answer the question pretty quick. I might find one interesting for my street car but I wouldn't try to sneak it into a race where it wasn't acceptable. Word travels fast, if you won someone would surely whisper the information into an inspectors ear. It might seem like snitching but I think of it as being fair to those that played by the rules.

I think he was talking about the iron one in the YouTube video. I don't have an aluminum one running yet.

I appreciate the kind words. I will post more progress as I can. I have a lot of projects in the works and will make this forum one of 2 sites for information. I will post here and on my Facebook page, and the Facebook page for MARC.

Here is a picture of the aluminum B block with the oil pan test fit.
