    New shoes....and a celebrity guest!

    Hello fellow HAMBers!

There hasn't been an update from me in quite a while.....but I have managed to get a few exciting things done lately, so it was way overdue.

    First....

I got the Buffalo Wires done and mounted!

We got the new Olympic tires mounted and I decided to go with silver lock rings per original...but it just didn't look right (my wife was on this like a hawk from the beginning)...so I took her advice and painted them black and everything was right in the world again.

I have made a few other improvements (gas tank, trunk, etc) in order to get ready for TROG West and another special encounter.

A year ago, I met a fantastic friend that came to visit the shop and see the T. He was quite taken by both and remarked that there was a famous acquaintance that I really needed to talk to in person: Jay Leno.

He suggested I "write the man a letter and see what he says". I took the plunge and did just that, hoping to get a chance to visit the "Big Dog Garage" and show Jay the roadster. The very next day after the letter arrived....Jay called me personally and invited me to visit the garage and asked about filming an episode of his web series about the T!

    I nearly fell over.

After months of planning and combining it with a family vacation...we loaded the T and headed south.

On Wednesday....we made the trek to the garage and it was EVERYTHING I ever could have imagined. Jay was very accommodating and super genuine....just a seller guy.

During the shoot...I offered to crank start it on film which they liked. I decided to let Jay crank start it....and it went on the first pull!

During the drive portion....you could tell he was really into it. He sometimes gets this look on his face when he really loves a car and he had it when we were racing the camera car! Lol!

We spent the rest of the day milling around the shop and enjoyed the collection. It was unreal...I'm still coming down off that high!

Once the episode is available, I will have links and some more pictures.

    More to come,

    Clayton

I was hoping I would see that mentioned. I can't wait to see the episode. The T, not the accident.

Too cool! Looking forward to seeing the show. Your T is an inspiration to all of what a hot rod should be.
Love the trailer Clayton, do you have plans for it?

  8. Awesome, Jay's show is the only "Car" T.V. show worth a damn.

Thanks bud! It was a really surreal experience and I'm honored that my roadster got asked to do this.

The trailer is not mine. It belongs to a friend that is also a T guy.

Very nice Clayton. If I could be inspired that would have done it. Your car is the real deal.

I wish you could have gone into more detail on your performance and suspension mods. I don't think Leno really got how much you have done to a car that still still looks so much like a stock T. I know in those things time is very limited and likely much more is filmed than can be used. It is so cool to have a real car guy like Leno around.

I agree...it would have been an hour video easily though if I had.

The whole thing is off the cuff, so you have to just go with Jay. It's all pretty smooth.

I plan to revamp my YouTube channel and do a few more in depth videos on the T and pre-war stuff in general.

Very cool that you got Jay's attention and were invited to do a segment of his Garage show with your neat T. And it was a pleasure to meet you, see your car in person and have you point out the finer details of your ride at Forest Grove last Sunday.

Your T has me totally rethinking my '26 Chevy roadster build. It was always meant to be what an early Chevy gowjob might have evolved into. Now…..., maybe what your T might be had it been born a Chevy? In my dreams I can see them sitting somewhere side by side

I also like that idea a lot. The '26 Chevy engine topped with a '28 Chevy or '23 Oldsmobile head would be the hot ticket. Like a primordial version of the Spurgin and Giovanine roadster.
