Can anyone help me out with the dimensions of the inner bearing spacer that's used for spacing a 40-48 hub on an A to 35 spindle,,I know a valve seat is generally used but we don't seem to have any suppliers in Aust.,,,,I realise the ID is the spindle size and the OD is the seal size but how thick are they ?,,,,I can get them made easily ,,and I don't need the piston rings ,,,thanks from Rod,,,
Im working on this right now. I can tell you in a few days . Rough measurement was just under .5 inch thick but basically you just need the spindle nut to wind up properly near the cotterpin hole. I just finished my "piston rings" 3 5/8 id ...3 15/16" od .... .120 thick
Hey fellas, Got my Model B motor running like a top now. I have noticed though that I have an intermittent loud tapping noise coming from the front timing cover area. I'm thinking that it's got something to do with the cam button spring, perhaps it's gone weak? I've heard that racers back in the day would replace the spring with a set bolt and lock nut, is this something that works for a street driven mill? Has anyone done this to their motor? Chris.
chris , I have the bolt in my timing cover & been working fine for years as a daily driver . it has a pad on the end to keep the cam from walking . **roddyb34 , I have a commercial made pair ill give you . need your shipping address ....... steve
Hi V4F, thanks for the reply that basically what I needed to hear. Would you have an image of the arrangement, I'm not quite sure what you mean by a pad on the end of the bolt?
chris , could not find my parts list , but I believe it is a bronze type washer on the end of the bolt . it doesnt actually touch the cam except when it walks forward . there is like a .007 clearance . mine was made by condor (out of business ) but I know some one makes them out of the stock cover ....
Hey Steve, I just checked and this is a banger meet post from July 2006! No wonder there's no response, my mistake amigo, I started us on this road to nowhere. Chris.
Checking in. Been in USA for June and met the sheep loving blokes at LARS. Found a few old yards full of A's and got some leads on some OHV motors. Life's good, even if you have to wear a mask.
Moved some stuff around to get a compressor out ant these Banger bits got their photos taken. Two drilled for oil C Cranks a Reground B Can with bronze bushings and half of another B Cam. Not many people put bronze bushings in a block for a cam did they? Bob
