Just spent Friday & Saturday at the GoodGuys Columbus Nationals. Lots of very high dollar builds. It seems to me that people are using their 401K to build their cars. I saw over 50 hotrods with the 8 stack fuel injection systems on their motors. In the Pros Pick area, almost 75% had the 8 stack system. WTF? Lots of people and again the parking was a cluster. Of course, I saw people saving spots with chairs and coolers (I personally hate that) but then guys backing in their cars and plowing right thru and over the chairs and coolers. Wow! I saw a few HAMB members and of course they were the best! Saw more ratrods this year than before. Also a lot of "clown cars" too. One I had to include. It was so ugly. I had to. Probably the worst modification I have ever seen! Sorry I did not take more photos but here are a few that I did take. View attachment 3267808
I went Saturday for the day and I was on a mission and didn't spend to much time taking pics. Here's the ones I did take. Bill View attachment 3267844 View attachment 3267845
Thanks for sharing pics.I also was was up there Sat. nice to see more pics because you can't see it all in one day.
Had a good time Thurs, Fri, and Sat.. Saw your car but you weren't around.. I too thought there were many high dollar builds, but a show like that is where you're going to see them... Scored some 16" "Lyons" hubcaps at the swap meet that I will probably sell but thought the swap meet was only fair at best...
Yep, the Camaro rear end made me sick to my stomach. Overall another great GG show. First class all the way around. The stack injectors make sense if you have the $$'s to spend. The electronics seem to be fool proof and the reliability is built in (if they are ever driven). If I had to dough, that's what I would be doing. I found it questionable that the Olds that won the Ridler also won the streetrod of the year. To me, it was a custom not a hot rod or a streetrod
That Roadster was full of neat little tricks. It had a weird set up that you could only see under the hood. Not weird but different. If I would of used my head I could of taken a picture of it. I couldn't steal any ideas from it to apply to my build. Bill
Here's a couple that I fell in love with. I saw the coupe in Detroit and couldn't get that color out of my head. The sedan is 100% perfect!
The coupe color is a little darker cranberry than the hard to find Rustoleum gloss cranberry in spray cans. Looks great combined with black on tool chests. The next ride I build will have the chassis that color and flat or satin black 27T sheet metal. Theme: CRA 1940's track roadster. Flathead, 4 speed and roadster QC. 16" 46-48 Ford wheels. 600-16 Dunlop 130mph tires. No "droop snoot"; chassis level with the ground. Height a little lower than stock, maybe 3" depending on how much room my legs need in a belly pan. I basically want a car that can be driven on rough rural roads that aren't 4wd only.
