Hot Rods Changed up my roadster a little...I like the results

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Jul 10, 2016.

  1. I have always wanted a set of 5 spokes to put on my cars from time to time to be a little different. I found a pair of aluminum 15x6 Americans with the big ford bolt pattern on here a few months back and bought them. Found a new set of hurst 7.5" wide 28" tall slicks at the Spokane swap meet this weekend, so mounted them and put the 5.50 16" black walls off my 33 pickup on the front. I'm really digging the tough 60's drag look. I do want a pair of 15x4" 5 spokes for the front, but I am not going to pay for magnesium. The new ET's look really good and authentic...I may go with those down the road, but this set up will work for now. Put the car about 10-15 years newer looking with just tires and wheels. I plan on taking the underpowered car to the billetproof eruption drags next month, that's mainly why I was experimenting today

  3. Neat.
That roadster is cool either way.

  4. You can't go wrong with American five spokes, they have always been my favorites. Have a full set on my O/T Truck. Great looking car.

  5. You're damned right, that works!

  12. Chris that is sweet and that is an old hot rod/racer trick here in the mid west. When I was a kid when the first moved back here all the old timers would say that you put your best wheels on the back. ;)

You would have fit right in herein the early '60s with that set up.

  13. Is your trans or your key way going to "erupt" first? Love it brutha!

I have seen those mixed with 12 spokes in the front and it looks pretty bad ass.

Chris, I'm glad you could use those tires, they look great on your car. I couldn't get them in the fenders on my 5W with the wheel offset I had. Good seeing you and Corey this weekend at the swap meet. Tim

a tire and wheel swap really changes the personality of a car. here's my 5W last week before and after.

Went from "cool '50s roadster" to "tuff hot rod" in the blink of an eye!
    Looks great both ways.
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

The American Racing TTO's would match the rears as well. I think they come in a 15x5.

The TTO's are a match but the new ones aren't offered in 5 on 5 1/2 in the narrow widths.

  26. They are, but only polished. I just had a set I sold. They just didn't quite look right, took a different center cap and Lin nut, etc
