Not a 100% on the way they look but I really like have mirrors and it's what they were running when the car was last done in the 70s. What do y'all think .
As you can see in my avatar, I do not run outside rearview mirrors. In my case it has made me a much more aware driver as I have to really look before changing lanes or other such maneuvers! I do not believe they were required by federal law until 1967 prior to that they were an option. I would check your local vehicle code before you do anything with your mirror. KK
If you intend to drive it you need the mirrors. If you are going to trailer it than you need to invest in good mirrors for your tow vehicle.
Not necessarily. here's our wagon 1,124 miles from home and I drove the car all the way to Novi,Michigan. I still haven't added exterior mirrors but I don't encourage others to run without them,I have a set but still haven't installed them, drilling holes in paint makes me queasy. HRP
True when you have large window space. Not true when you have a 3 window coupe or sedan delivery with huge blind spots.
Yeah, side mirror or not rest of veiw must be hard....Get a good shiny mirror or paint it body color...
That's one of those questions that will never get answered here except yes/no. I personally don't want them and haven't for 33 years on mine. Ugly. On the other hand, they might have saved me a lot of time and frustration had my sons 63 Fairlane had them when his idiot high school buddy tried to pass him as he was turning left on his way home from school. At least it totaled the newer one when he hit the curb popping both air bags and ripping the suspension off. I was able to get my sons car back on the road in a couple of weeks. Got any idiot high school buddies......... Keep the mirrors!
It would be different if the handles and locks were shaved. You still have drip rails and window shades. I'm going to vote on the side of safety equipment this time. No foul on appearance IMO. Nice Ford, by the way. Mark's '61 looks smooth shaved no doubt!
Blake -I like the W engine valve cover on the bench in your photo. Wouldn't hurt to put an LED bulb in the clamp light, too.
P lacement of mirrors help. They have to be usable as well with all the traffic buzzing around these days
I used to run no-mirror, based on looks. Seemed normal at the time. Now I have a broken mirror on an ugly SUV. I hate it. Don't feel safe. If your custom has any blind spot at all, get a mirror.
Mirrors will save lives . I got the biggest round ones I could find, (5") Of course I had a very large pair of blind spots on my Roadster and I wanted to be able to see how much distance I had between me and the other guy without turning around . I'd put them on, no question.
All opinions worthy enough, but mirrors allow more time to react, & I don't see an idiot shortage on the horizon. Nice shoebox too. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
If you drive faster than everyone else on the road, you could probably get by without mirrors. However, I wouldn't consider driving without them. - in my opinion you need 3. (Facing rearwards).
If life was perfect, no outside mirrors. But life around here is heavy traffic, an old neck that doesn't turn as far as it used to, and rain, meaning the top is up. I've got them left, right and middle. Just to survive.
