That's a great looking body style. You better move fast on getting it running because it starts snowing up there in September, doesn't it? We have relatives in Fairbanks and they tell us about the long, -50 degree winters every year. Good luck with it. Hopefully you have a heated garage too....

    from S.D.

    It's a 36 with a 35 front . The wide 5 wheels were 36-39
Or it could be a 35 with 39 front and rear end. 39 was frist year for hyd. brakes.
    What does the title say.
Ford sold over the counter 36 front ends to update the 35,
    Anyway nice find.
I also have a 35 that is original

Yes, it gets cold fast here, and long.
I'm thinking wires as well, soon as I can find them and drums.
I do know of one other original 50's hot rod up here, it's a 1930 roadster, with a Riley overhead conversion, custom dash, etc. belongs to the friend that turned me on to this one.

What a score! Are those '49 Merc gauges? They look great in that dash.

    Very cool score !
I saw this car listed on Craigslist as a 32 ford 3window .
I was on my way to Fairbanks when he called me back to say it was a 35 . Not that a 35 isn't really cool just to new for my liking . Believe it or not just minutes after I got the bad news of it being a 35 , a friend called me about a 32 Tudor sedan . The next day I bought that . It turned out to be an old hotrod as well .
PM me if you need help getting parts etc. I have some early and late flathead stuff .

Sure thing Ed, thanks for the offer!
I'm glad it wasn't a 32, if it was, it wouldn't be mine now!

That's my plan, no way am I going to start a restoration right now. My last project took 8 years to get on the road.
I'm going to drive this old girl first.

Nice job getting ahold of that 3W Mr. Moore! Good thinking just getting it running and driving first... Don't get too antsy to dive into a restoration once you've driven it, either... I think I'm getting old because I'm starting to think "They're only original once!" But it'd be a great car to add a dual carb intake, headers, ignition and heads to down the road. Just clean it and enjoy it while you can!

  24. Fantastic Find! I love your plan of getting it on the road and having some fun . . . then start messing with updates and all that madness. I did this with my 32 Cabriolet - with the goal to keep the car on the road while I was building a new engine, new trans, etc. -- same plan in place for the new suspension I'm currently working on, etc.. By keeping the car running and operational, you'll have a lot more motivation to get things done . . . and the enjoyment keeps getting better as you update/improve things. Keep us all posted of your work and efforts . . .

As soon as I can fit her in my shop, I'm going to pull the grille/ radiator and see if she'll turn over. The oil looks clean. The fan is hitting the back of rad now.
I have a rebuilt Bubba's dist and a spare carb to try it.
Going to need a new gas tank though as this one has fist size holes in it.

The oil looks clean because all of the sediment has settled to the bottom of the pan. Advice. Drain oil and refill with 5w before you turn it over. Just my .02 cents worth.

Yea, I'm going to pull the plug and check for water/ coolant. Also going to squirt a liberal amount of MMO in the cylinders as well.

    Great place to live.

I see from your profile your prior Air Force. My son is a tech sergeant out at Eielson.
I retired after 23 years in the Army.
