Any more. May pick up a pickup this week. Scared I'll never fit in it though it's a 30 and I'm 6 foot 4

I had a thread on here years back and Earl Schieb posted this picture on that thread. It is a pickup with sedan doors.

  4. I'm trying to approximate this express bed look, but a little simpler on the design. Think I can use 31 wide bed front and tailgate to get close to what I want, then bend up some sides and if I'm lucky, roll some beads into it, too. Oh, yeah, and I need to drop that front axle four inches!

My first hot rod was a 29 ford closed cab truck. loved that thing, then I moved on to many other open and closed trucks. My favorite was the Frog truck. 29 with a chev v6 auto trans, and shifter on the column. Made it nice not to have something on the floor to bang your kness on. It definetly felt like you had more room. I added seat heaters when I had the seat recovered.
You can see the frog truck in the small pic next to my post. I cant seem to figure out how to upload any other pics?

Yes. One and the same. Great people and the coolest rides. My favorite image is of this truck with a ladder on top. Rick is a sign painter and a damn good one.
For the above poster, who is worried about getting in a cab, Rick has been driving this one for years. He is a tall guy. (Not sure why he needed that ladder.)

I just stumbled across this cool early seventies photo of a fairly famous Model A PU from the late fifties. Anybody else recognize it?

I talked to him when he worked at "Cars of the Stars" or something like that .
He was a super guy to talk to, he said: "I've outgrow some of my toys"
Myself, "I have filled out nicely" with my advancing age and my wife's evening menu..
never thought it would come to this.

    50 years ago today!
The first time I drove it was March 15th, 1969, Happy Birthday Hot Rod.
I drew this up while in Vietnam, built it when I got home.
Found a chopped cab down 3rd St. S.F. for $550.
Built it in my uncle's garage on Dolores St. in SF.
    Then to Daly City, Ca.
Still has a 4-speed, a half century of fun, driving it tonight to a hot rod gathering in Concord, Ca.
I also built a steel Willys coupe, long story, HR 3.jpg Hot Rod in the early years.jpg View attachment 4222595 Jim,, Chris, Kitty and I.jpg img385.jpg Trophies and Plaques.jpg View attachment 4222606 View attachment 4222609
