Damn....seems to me if no one was building glass cars there would be a whole lot less hot rods on the road.

Does anyone know if someone sells a glass cowl vent assembly??

This is where I am as of today. The only thing traditional, to me that is, is I'm building it with whatever parts are laying around. Not worried about the "You have to have etc. etc. etc. "
I think the body is a Kilbourne. Bought it right but lots of work to do. Doors and trunk need to be hung and have to build the inner structure. Thinking it was a back door body. Maybe at the time he quit doing bodies.

How did I miss this thread? I went FG because I wanted longer doors and cabin. Show Me Rod and Custom
near Branson MO produced a body like this and the cost landed here was less than a local one. Had to do a bit of work but happy with the result. Doors are 2 inches longer and cabin pushed back 2 inches. And easy for me to get in and out of at 6 ft + Roadster 3 (Medium).jpg

A good friend and fellow hot rod builder, Derek Bower, out of Burbank, California built this '32 Roadster for himself. I took these photos at his shop back in '06. He still has it but don't know how often it gets used (if, at all?) these days. It's a 'glass body but I don't remember the manufacturer, probably Westcott. It has a '55 Dodge Red Ram engine, T5 trans with closed drive adapter (that he made) and a late banjo rear. Lots of other genuine goodies and a chassis that's a work of art, too. Glass or not, its a fantastic example of a traditional '32 Roadster as far as I'm concerned. It runs killer, too. Engine has a ton of work done and made around 350 Hp on the break-in dyno. He drove by our shop one day to grab some parts and when he was turning around to leave my Dad yelled, "Will it burn rubber?" He did a killer 50' smokey sideways 2nd gear rolling burnout on his way down the alley. When he got back to his shop he called and apologized and we told him not to be sorry because it was absolutely bitchin'!

  22. After viewing this total thread,I didn't see or even a mention of the "Harwood" cars...They were extremely well made like a Wescott...Too bad Gary Harwood stopped all body production..makes more money on hood scoops

Before I bought my Wescott body; I looked at a Harwood, and yes they were extremely well made. All of Gary Harwoods' products were/are nice, I have a winshield frame of theirs, very happy with the quality. I don't know if they maintained the accuracy of the OEM (or the Wescott) body dimensionally, IIRC, they were two inches longer through the door area.

Nobody mentioned POLYFORM,, Dick Williams built (s) a great 33-34 3 window ?
Even tho I was a WESCOTT dealer for over 20 years, I bought a Polyform 3 window.
Dick and Dee got along well. Both built quality products.. Both fine craftsmen.

This 'glass body is the most 'stock-like' I've ever seen! Does anybody know who made it? I found the Image on Google from a site called American Dream Cars. It's basically a site to sell street rods. I've looked but can't find anything like it. Un-filled roof, working cowl vent, crank-out windshield, stock hinges...awesome! 1934ford5wcpsrkit012609.jpg

My '32 was built by a longtime friend in CT using a New Age Motorsports body and frame.
I bought it last year and finished the body and paint, changed a few other details to make it more like I would have done from the start.
Fred did a great job including the 392" dual quad Hemi, 5 speed, real nice LeBarron Bonney top, and a simple but functional interior.

IMG_4274.JPG IMG_3879.JPG IMG_3881.JPG IMG_3884.JPG IMG_3885.JPG IMG_4079.JPG This Wescott bodied car is a 40 year old build, including the paint. The tire and wheel change sort of puts it into traditional rod territory. I found it on Craig's List in south LA. I flat towed it 1,000 miles to get it home behind my 24 year old 4-cylinder auto trans Nissan mini pickup. An adventure in itself.
I've been driving every chance I get for about 7 months now.
