For all the cars with no fenders coming to Deuce Days....you will be legal !!!

AS of 2:45 pm today our Premier Christy Clarke announced that this initiative is now
allowed. Exceptions...pavement and dry roads only.

  4. Is this just til and including Deuce Days weekend (they have done this before on a temporary basis) or has the fender law been permanently changed? (which we have been trying to do)
If it has, that is Huge News! :)

That's encouraging news to hear that it's finally in.
Hopefully it isn't just for Deuce days as mentioned.
Is there any link to an official announcement?

I don't know how you get that idea Danny, especially since the text of the announcement reads as follows :

Qualifying vehicles must have been built in 1940 or earlier, or be replicas of this vintage of vehicle.

  12. A faux pas on my part Larry, I inadvertently omitted ~ "built before 1940 or replicas". HRP

  13. Yes, the "fair weather exemption" is now in place in BC...........it has been a long road to achieve that status as many meetings/discussions over the years with gov't agencies produced nothing and finally, via BCHRA involvement, it was mentioned "you must go the political route"........which was accomplished with "some good connections".........even once the political nod was rec'd, grinding one's way thru the maze took several more years...........and yes, "letters of exemption" had been published by the BC gov't agencies for the last 2 DD's events covering fenderless cars..........now we're waiting for ICBC to finalize upgrades/improvements to the Collector Plate program............

Read it all fellas.....the vehicle must have a "modified" registration status and
qualify for collector plate status. NO blue and white plates.........

So then explain where you read this and why it will be a problem.

I think that it will apply to all the qualifying cars.

  16. I ran the "regular" plates on the Roadster as my Modified Collector Plate application was turned down because there were no fenders. Now with this change I can reapply for the "Modified Collector Plate" which I would prefer to run.

There's a group of us working on it in Manitoba. Can anyone put up a link to the actual wording of the legislation?

my car was registered in Ontario but has not yet been registered in BC. wondering if i will now still need fenders to do so or if that eliminates the need for them? would save me some work for sure as i want to run the car without fenders anyways

Now that fenders are not required in BC I'd say that you should be good to go without them for getting your BC plate.

Here's hoping! I will have to stop by one of the inspection places and see what they have to say. Should be interesting!

Print out and take a copy of the announcement with you just in case, however I don't think you will need it.

Go to one of your local hot rod shops and ask them who they use for inspections for their customer cars. Usually they find an inspector who is hot rod friendly.

Let's hope this is NOT tied to collector plates. If I want to drive my hot rod to work that is my business.

What happens when you set out in the dry and then it rains?....dry roads only is stated, I think.
