Here's a wacked idea. How about fixing the mechanicals, the interiors and leaving the outside patina alone. You could
then faux paint an old custom paint and treat the car as if it were an old "found" custom.

  10. Been thinking of painting my '31.
Can someone paint it the color of the green wheel?
Thanks and no hurry, it has looked this way for over 10 years!
    thanks, Tony

I have a request as well. I will have my '60 Caddy 175170_Side_Profile_Web.jpg 7824641698_e197dfb892_b.jpg here next month and going to be starting a radical build. I'm hoping to see a Rendering before starting. If someone could help I would really appreciate it. Can someone Chop this about 2" and replace roof with a '59 Impala Flattop Roof? I also would love to see it with Blue Scallops & Impala rear wheel wells. But beggers can't be choosers. Please & Thank you. Hope you have a great day.

What a canvass! I can see why you're asking opinions. I'd think long and hard, too!

The red and black are a good base.
I would not disassemble the car for repaint. Instead, I would run 1" to 3" tape around all the trim (Maybe even smaller, depending on the size of the trim), scuff the finish, and paint in another color. When the masking tape comes off, you will be left with a brilliant red outlining. Outline pin striping would finish the job. TheMoose's paint scheme, accentuating the tail lights above the body line, is super.
I'd experiment with different candies over red. If nothing suits, I'd look at metallic Lilac.
(In which case, I'd shave the door handles.! Not always necessary, but pivotal for this car.)
I would finish with Candy Purple over the black roof.

Winfield used the flattop roof from a 4-door hdtp Caddy for his '61, "Mabeline".

Can't wait to start. I got a Rendering today of body mods. Genes got me motivated but the body is so different than the '62 that's why I asked for rendering

Wow!!!!! Jaw drop. Lil emoji all of the stuff I don't know how to do. That's beautiful. I was thinking Scallops. But now seeing the Persian Sand & this Blend/Fade I see I got some serious thinking to do on paint. Thanks man.

My vote is for the fade. It compliments the car perfectly.

Wow, thanks Moose, I like the top pic, if you have any other choices, I'd like to see them, I'd thought of the torque thrust "d" ones, but really like the look of the shiny ones. My old girl has worn the same shoes for a long time, used to run moon discs but kept losing them, now they are safe in a box in my shop. Time for an update, but sorta at a loss as to wheels, there are so many choices. Gotta say though, the top pic really is a show stopper. Any votes as to which looks best?

  27. IMG_7334.JPG IMG_7335.JPG Looking to do something new with the roof of my Chevy. I'm open to ideas...flake, lace, panels? Just looking to stay in the green family. Have at it boys! And THANK YOU for what you do for everyone.

Can I see roof chopped and rear dropped on ground, with trim on rear quarter and stone guards removed.
    Thanks in advance, much appreciated
