Anyone know why my clutch would only slip in 3rd gear? I can floor it in 1st and 2nd and it's fine, but in 3rd if I give it any more than half throttle it slips bad, I'm gonna do the t5 swap soon so if it just needs a clutch then I just won't drive it till I get the swap done....but I would think if it was the clutch actually going bad it would slip in 1st and 2nd too.....and ideas? I'm still a good month from doing the swap so if it's something simple I can fix that would keep me on the road I'm all for it Sent from my SM-G920T using H.A.M.B. mobile app
The clutch is worn and/or weak. It only slips in third because the load on the clutch is greater with the direct drive of high gear. Whereas, in first and second, because of the gear multiplication, the load on the clutch is less and it's grip is adequate. Compare how the engine responds in lower gears compared to third. Ray
