    Hi all,
Have a rebuilt steering box. Still some play in it. I've read the manual & would like some additional explanation...
The lock & set screw adjust does exactly what? And the shaft end adjustment does what? I don't want to damage the box not understanding exactly what I'm doing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those adjustments set the end play in the moving parts. The case adjustment sets the contact between the moving parts.

What type of play is there? (which parts move in which direction?) Is there play when the steering gear is centered?

Just remember to adjust the end play first, then the top screw & nut. The adjusting is done with the wheels off the ground, & when the steering wheel goes thru center (straight ahead) you should feel just a touch of drag.

What type of play? Well, only left to right approx 1" each way of center. The tie rods are also badly worn(on order). Which adjustment do I use to remedy. The top of the box?
