Hell of a trip, guys. Glad Whitney was able to swap a new engine in and catch up. Well done on racking up the miles --- more in one road trip than a lot of people put on their old cars in 10 years time. Almost home the way it looks - safe travels!

If you do this again next year, I'd definitely be up for joining you!

Good photo above of you on the steps, Mike. Beer and pussy. That's what life's all about, right?

  9. Pulled into east Memphis to stop for the night. Clocked about 740 miles for the day. Should be home around mid day tomorrow.

You're probably to tired to look for a cat to pose for a picture. I'd like to congratulate you guy's on a great accomplishment, that's a hell of a run in any kind of car, and you did it in a fresh roadster !!

  11. Thanks Pete,
We aren't worthy yet, we still have a 6 hour ride home! Man, this has been a great adventure and hanging out with you guys was a tremendous bonus. Look forward to hanging again, and we have room in Knoxville if you decide to head east!

  12. Well, we made it home today, kind of sad but all good things must come to an end. Logged about 4500 miles on the old shit boxes and had a blast!

Pete's back porch and of course a kool Kitty!!!

Did a ride like this in 1993 with Thom Taylor, P-Wood, PC3, Jake, Ray Lark, Roy & Andy Brizio, and John Mumford. Most all were in closed cars, but I remember coming back from Springfield Mo. In like 29 hrs with 4 hrs to sleep, eating burgers while gassing up and wearing out a set of dirt track tires !!!!!!
At the time I thought that I was nuts, but I looking to do it again, but taking my time to appreciate more of this land we drive on.
You guys kicked butt in a very kool kar that I've dug ever since it's R & C Vintage Tin Garage Scene Coverage back in the 70's. Congrats on the build the ride and the adventure.

What kind of mpg' did you get?

  18. ...............I think that was spg..........Smiles per gallon.:D;)

  19. My roadster with a 4 speed, 7.00-16's, 3:00 gear, and an 11:1 327 got between 14-15 mpg. Gas quality seemed to affect it out west. Mikes 32 has a 283, 5 speed, 4:11, and 7:50's. Seemed to get better mileage but also had a little bigger gas tank.

Left Bend,Or.June 13, left top home for a great time on the road, great scenery, cruised about 85 most the way to Susanville--Reno--Bishop--Pomona.----After LAR show Sunday, 3pm it was 108 degrees on stop & go traffic all the way to Simi Valley,Ca.---Gauge read a steady 210 +.---Drank LOTS of water!
Returned Hwy 1 in Ca,--- too many tourists, bicycles, campers at Big Sur, shifted over at Santa Cruz headed for I 580---Stop & go traffic temp went up to 210 & stayed there until hitting hwy 99 North to Chico, Ca.---12 hours of sun & heat was pretty brutal in the pass areas.
    Chico,Ca. 99 to I 5 to Medford, Or.to 62 over the pass by Crater lake,(lots cooler at 5500 ft. elev.)down to hwy 97 North to Bend, home at 5:30pm June 23rd-----About 1800 miles total.---TOPLESS!
